Mao Tongyan is a photographer born in Shanghai 1983, graduates of Shanghai Normal University Pedagogy department. The artist recalls spending most of his teenage time at home listening to his mother and father discussing. This also one of the reasons why his art is focused on real estate crimes in China and beyond.
For the “stones” project, he invites a prostitute to dress up in a police uniform and go to the crime scene pretending to look for clues. As none of the crimes have been solved so far, he takes a piece of the wall from the crime scene and prints an image on it.
