Born in Obermarchtal, Germany, in 1950, Paco Knöller went on to study alongside Joseph Beuys at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.

The artist lives and works in Berlin. He was professor at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen between 2001 and 2013.
