PETER PANYOCZKI

b. 1953, Hungary
Peter Panyoczki Biography

Peter Panyoczki’s works explore inner and outer horizons and use light on several dimensions. He is a truly global citizen living on two continents, which is reflected in his work. Panyoczki emigrated to Switzerland with his family aged only four in 1957, studied and taught at the University of Zurich and Purdue University, Lafayette, IN, USA, as well as Rotterdam, Florence, and Vienna, before making his home in New Zealand in 1995.

He belongs to the 1980s generation of artists who rejected conceptual art yet did not simply return to figurative art, instead developing a conceptual interest in art as a medium. Panyoczki has exhibited widely across the globe, and his works form part of several prestigious private and public collections. He is also the founder of the Kaipara Foundation, awarding residencies in Switzerland to New Zealand artists.

Born 1953, Budapest, Hungary, Peter Panyoczki, lives and works in Auckland, New Zealand and Zurich, Switzerland.
