In the 2004 film Sand Saga, which at first glance appears to be a coming-of-age story set in a natural environment, Shana Moulton operates through various cultural analogies. Moulton deliberately mixes low-tech special effects with a healthy dose of New Age, passages through multiple dimensions, beauty masks, and references to Georgia O’Keeffe and Jackson Pollock.
