Born in Austria, Thierry Feuz was quite active in central Europe, capturing the essence of nature with regards to its shape, colour, and scientific imaginations onto his canvas. The artist does not specify the exact being within his work, so it’s hard to tell whether the canvas, full of unfamiliar lights, are of flowers that soar up like flames, or are of a tiny world viewed from a microscope, or are full of unnamed stars in a galaxy.
However, such visual amusement offers its viewers something you can’t quite experience or depict with the eyes through the colour and tone on the canvas. Such expression of unconstrained, dynamic pattern and colour provides a means that cannot come from the traditional ways of painting. Thus, its origin manifests from the experimental work style of Feuz. First, Feuz completes the background colour whilst having the canvas on the floor.
When the paint on the canvas has not even begun drying, he pours paints of different colour onto them and either swirls or scatters them with either his hand, combs, knives, wood sticks, sprays or airbrushes to mold its form. He also uses Lacquer (industrial coating) to add shine and flamboyant colour to his works.
Such work style condemns the artist from changing or fixing the work in between the process, which requires a high degree of focus and expression from start to finish. Like playing an instrument, the piece is rendered with every rhythm that comes off the the artist’s fingertips, giving it metaphysical vitality.
