Tony Woods is a painter and video artist whose work have developed from a photo-realistic style into abstraction. His later film works have been described as means of handling reality, with unedited footage an jerky camera work reminiscent of home videos. His banal subject matter of streetscapes and animals belies a concentrated study of form, colour and composition. This allows for a porous relationship to be established between painting and video.
Born in Hobart, Australia, Woods is a Harkins Fellow and his is work is held in collections throughout Australia and abroad.
