Makayla Bailey is a writer, curator and money doula based in New York City. In addition to serving as co-executive director of Rhizome at the New Museum from 2022 to 2024, Bailey has held curatorial positions at MoMA and the Studio Museum in Harlem, where she co-organised the institution's first digital exhibition, titled Hearts in Isolation.
Bailey’s work has been featured in Artforum, ArtNews, Essence, Frieze, Harper’s Bazaar, Hyperallergic, PIN-UP, i-D, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, and elsewhere. Bailey’s current work spans climate, humour, ethical stewardship of emerging technologies, and the creation of an equitable accounting of marginalised cultural production.
