Alice Neel‘s granddaughter Olivia is among the artist’s portraits on view at Xavier Hufkens, in an exhibition that illuminates Neel’s decades-long exploration of the human psyche.

On view at the gallery’s Van Eyck space in Brussels, Seeing who we are sets the tone for her fast-approaching retrospective at the Centre Pompidou in October.

Highlighting the painter’s political and social commitment, Alice Neel: Un regard engagé will coincide with FIAC and the newly announced edition of Art Basel in Paris, launching this October at the iconic Grand Palais.
