This exhibition took place at our previous Vienna location.
Beck & Eggeling International Fine Art is pleased to announce the frst exhibition of works by German painter Norbert Tadeusz (1940—2011) in Austria.
Cooperating with the gallery since 2016, this exhibition is presented in close collaboration with the Estate Norbert Tadeusz.
In the almost 50 years of his career Norbert Tadeusz created a comprehensive body of work which can be observed only by focussing on specifc aspects in the context of a gallery exhibition. Thus, Tadeusz. Figur. is concentrating on one of the most essential moments in the work of Norbert Tadeusz: the relation of body and space. The selection comprises nudes, interior views and still lifes from around 40 years and illustrates the development of styles and techniques Tadeusz undertook throughout his career.
About Norbert Tadeusz
Norbert Tadeusz (1940—2011) was born in Dortmund, Germany, and studied at the renowned Kunstakademie Du sseldorf from 1961 to 1966 under Gerhard Hoehme, Joseph Fassbender, and Joseph Beuys. In 1966 his frst solo-exhibition at Gallery Gunar in Dusseldorf caused a stir when it was shut down by police due to indecency. His frst one-man-show in a museum took place in 1970 at Kunstmuseum Dusseldorf im Ehrenhof and was followed by many solo-presentations in Germany throughout his career. Tadeusz was included in the Venice Biennale in 1982 and later exhibited widely thoughout Europe, Asia and the United States. In 1992 the Museum Insel Hombroich, a private museum complex near Neuss, opened the Tadeusz Pavilion, a building exclusively designed to permanently house his monumental paintings. As a professor he taught at renowned art schools in Munster, Karlsruhe, Berlin and Braunschweig. Norbert Tadeusz died on 11 July 2011 in his studio in Dusseldorf. Most recent exhibitions of his work took place at widely acclaimed shows at ESMoA (in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art) in El Segundo, USA, and at the Faurschou Foundation in Peking, China.
