Fifteen of Park Seo-Bo's paintings from the later phase of his best-known 'Ecriture' series (from 2000 onwards) are on show at Tokyo Gallery+BTAP.⁠⁠

This heralded series—formed by repeatedly drawing lines onto canvas, before painting over those lines and redrawing them—transitioned from neutral hues to tactile and colourful canvases over the years. ⁠⁠

We covered this evolution a few months back, following his earlier pencil-incised lines into wet canvases to the incorporation of vibrant colours inspired by a visit to Fukushima in 2000, as well as his incorporation of hanji, a form of traditional Korean paper made of mulberry tree bark.⁠⁠
