November 17, 2020—David Zwirner is pleased to present MiamiNY on the occasion of Art Basel’s OVR: Miami. This new hybrid online and offline presentation will consist of the gallery’s fair artworks being installed in David Zwirner’s gallery spaces in New York and on Wednesday, December 2, davidzwirner.com will host public interactive live streaming sessions with the gallery’s directors discussing and taking questions about the artworks on view.
This new hybrid of the brick-and-mortar and digital aims to emulate the experience of a collector, future collector, or art enthusiast engaging with a gallery director at a physical fair. During these live stream talks, directors will physically be with the works they are speaking about and able to take questions from the audience. While the works will be installed in David Zwirner’s New York galleries in viewing rooms, and are being live-streamed and presented online, private appointments are available to our New York-based audience. These sessions will also be live-streamed concurrently on Art Basel’s website on David Zwirner’s fair page.
In addition to the live-streaming sessions on December 2, Miami NY will exist as an online viewing room on the gallery’s website and Art Basel’s website, from December 2 to 6. The directors of the gallery will also be hosting live private client sessions throughout the week.
The presentation will feature works by Ruth Asawa, Carol Bove, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Noah Davis, Marcel Dzama, Dan Flavin, Suzan Frecon, Donald Judd, Yayoi Kusama, Liu Ye, Nate Lowman, John McCracken, Joan Mitchell, Oscar Murillo, Raymond Pettibon, Ad Reinhardt, Bridget Riley, Dana Schutz, Josh Smith, Jordan Wolfson, and Lisa Yuskavage.
MiamiNY is David Zwirner’s third Art Basel Miami Beach online presentation, which has continually evolved with each iteration.
David Zwirner was the first commercial gallery to launch an online viewing room in 2017 and over the past three years has established itself as the industry leader in the space. To date, David Zwirner has presented 90 online-only exhibitions and presentations, and 37 since lockdown began in March. This year, David Zwirner has launched the new online series Studio, which focuses on works coming directly from its artists’ studios, and Exceptional Works, which presents significant works to an invitation-only group of collectors.
