Who Are the 18 Artists Creating Works for JFK’s Terminal 6?

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey yesterday announced the 18 contemporary artists who will debut new commissions at J.F.K. Airport’s $4.2 billion Terminal 6 when it opens in 2026.
The artists were selected by a committee comprising members of the Port Authority, developers JFK Millennium Partners, and an independent art expert. The works are curated by Public Art Fund, a nonprofit specialising in public art.
‘Walls, floors, ceilings, and volumes will all be enriched with architecturally integrated, site-specific commissions by some of the most extraordinary artists of our time,’ said Nicholas Baume, artistic and executive director of Public Art Fund.
Nina Chanel Abney, Laure Prouvost, and Haegue Yang will have installations suspended from the new terminal’s ceiling.
Barbara Kruger, Charles Gaines, Nevin Aladağ, and Sky Hopinka will create wall-mounted works.
And 10 artists—including Candida Alvarez, Charline von Heyl, and Shara Hughes—will create glass mosaic floor medallions.
The other artists creating work for the airport are Felipe Baeza, Kerstin Brätsch, Teresita Fernández, Eddie Martinez, Kambui Olujimi, GaHee Park, Uman, and Dyani White Hawk.
The first gates at J.F.K. Airport’s Terminal 6 will open in 2026. The terminal will be fully completed in 2028. —[O]
