Alongside his main activities of wood sculpture and drawing, David Nash has for several years beendeveloping, at the invitation of the Galerie Lelong, a body of print work comprising pastel stencils–thehighly crafted execution of which often makes each print unique–and of series of small woodenmultiples which have as many variations as the trunk or branch of various trees allow.
The exhibition Colours and Columns at the Librairie is an opportunity to showcase recent work:geometric or biomorphic forms, as well as evocative plant forms, including tree silhouettes. These newworks reveal a new palette of colours, most of them very vivid, reflecting an evolution in the artist’ssensitive view of the natural world around him, particularly in relation to the seasons.
