‘I always found fruitful ideas more interesting than the complete development of those ideas’—René Daniëls

Modern Art has announced representation of Dutch artist René Daniëls (b.1950) following a recent exhibition of his works at their gallery in London.

One of the most esteemed artists of his generation, Daniëls’ paintings, which often conjure imagined, geometric spaces, are celebrated for their expressive, fluid nature, graphic simplicity, and relation to architecture. His works are known to have inspired an influential younger generation of artists, including Peter Doig, Chris Ofili, and Marlene Dumas.
