ONE AND J. Gallery was founded in September 2005 in Seoul as one of the first galleries to focus primarily on young contemporary Korean artists.
The gallery continues to be a leading platform for Korean contemporary art and culture as evidenced by the quality of its program and the solo and group exhibitions the represented artists have participated both in Korea and abroad.
Within the last few years, gallery artists have participated in several high profile art exhibitions including: Te Uru Waitakere, Auckland NZ; MMCA National Museum of Contemporary and Modern Art; Lille 3000; Dallas Museum of Art; Plateau – Samsung Space for Contemporary Art; Atelier Hermes; Wellington City Art Gallery; Dunedin Public Art Gallery; Hite Collection; Ilmin Museum; ARKO Art Center; Atelier Hermes and Hermes Misseulsang.
Previous exhibitions include participation in: Gwangju Biennale; Esslingen Foto and Media Triennial; Adelaide International; Daegu Photo Biennale; Incheon Women Artist Biennale; Chaotic Harmony at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and shows held at the Hite Collection (Seoul); Spencer of Museum of Art; Nam June Paik Art Center; Artsonje; House of World Cultures (Berlin); National Museum of Contemporary Art; Seoul Museum of Art; David Roberts Art Foundation; Somerset House; the Mori Museum; the Singapore Biennale; the Asia Pacific Triennial; The Echigo-Tsumari Triennial; Officina Asia; and Samsung Museum of Art.
Works from the gallery are in the permanent collection of LACMA, the Spencer Museum, the Mori Museum, Queensland Museum of Art, National Gallery of Victoria, Samsung Museum of Art, MMCA National Museum of Contemporary and Modern Art, the Hammer, the Hirshhorn Museum, Seoul Museum of Art, Sungkok Museum of Art, the Iljoo Foundation, The Burger Collection, K-11 Art Project, Bank of America, UBS, and Fidelity Investments.
The gallery participated in numerous art fairs including most recently Art Basel Miami Beach, Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Basel, Frieze, The Armory Show, Expo Chicago and Art Los Angeles Contemporary.
