Xavier Hufkens is pleased to announce participation in Frieze LA 2025 with a group presentation of works by Huma Bhabha, Louise Bourgeois, Nick Cave, Matt Connors, Tracey Emin, Lyln Foulkes, Giorgio Griffa, Nathanaëlle Herbelin, Evan Holloway, Thomas Houseago, Sherrie Levine, Mark Manders, Robert Mapplethorpe, Paul McCarthy, Alice Neel, Sterling Ruby, Joan Semmel, Walter Swennen, Lesley Vance, Cecilia Vicuña, Danh Vō, and Qiu Xiaofei.
Alongside the group presentation, Xavier Hufkens also showcases a solo presentation with new paintings by Constantin Nitsche, presenting a diverse body of work that ranges from still-lifes and portraits to a monumental painting of everyday scene that hover between fiction and reality. Through an intensified and heightened portrayal of reality, his compositions feel both fictitious yet plausible, otherworldly but real. Nitsche’s paintings simultaneously serve as a study in colour and composition, with his style alternating between hard-edged, colour-blocked schemes and delicate brushwork. The tonal relationships, which can be complimentary or contrasting, play a defining role in the creation of an enigmatic atmosphere.
Constantin Nitsche (b. 1987, Ludwigshafen, Germany) lives and works in Marseille. He studied painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Selected solo and group exhibitions include Blauregen, La Traverse, Marseille (2022); VIOLETTE, O-Town House, Los Angeles (2021); Everything is Personal, TRAMPS, New York (2020); Untitled, Parkhaus im Malkastenpark, Düsseldorf (2019); Salon des Amateurs, TRAMPS, London (2018).
