White Cube

Over the years, White Cube has expanded to its current locations in Mason’s Yard and Bermondsey Street, London, with international outposts in Hong Kong, New York, and Paris. White Cube Bermondsey is housed in a former 1970s warehouse and upon opening in 2011 was Europe’s largest commercial art gallery. Its 5,440m2 space comprises exhibition spaces, a warehouse, private viewing rooms, a bookshop, and an auditorium.

White Cube Artists

Artists represented by White Cube engage with diverse media and concerns, though share a thought-provoking and visionary approach to their artistic practice. Among the internationally acclaimed artists represented by the gallery are Etel Adnan, Georg Baselitz, Theaster Gates, Damien Hirst, and Anselm Kiefer, as well as Darren Almond, Antony Gormley, Robert Irwin, Sarah Morris, and Isamu Noguchi. White Cube also represents a roster of rising art world stars, including Tunji Adeniyi-Jones and Julie Curtiss.

Exhibitions, Projects, and Art Fairs

White Cube is recognised for its strong suite of solo exhibitions by some of the world’s best established and emerging artists. Tracey Emin showed her daring solo exhibition My Major Retrospective 1963–1993 at the gallery in its founding year; in 2012, White Cube showcased works by Gilbert & George across its international spaces, beginning with the newly inaugurated Hong Kong location.

White Cube continues to present solo shows of new works by its gallery artists, including Georg Baselitz’s Darkness Goldness (2020) and Mona Hatoum’s Remains to be Seen (2019). In 2021, the gallery debuted ‘Correspondence and more’, an off-site project in Aspen that paired the works of artists with shared concerns: Theaster Gates and Haim Steinbach; Anselm Kiefer and Ibrahim Mahama; and Antony Gormley and Isamu Noguchi.

White Cube also promotes the work of its gallery artists at international art fairs, among them Art Basel, Art Cologne, artemonte-carlo, FIAC, Frieze, Shanghai Art Week, Taipei Dangdai, TEFAF, and West Bund Art & Design.
