Ocula City Los Angeles Hollywood and the making of movies and television remains the city's biggest cultural product. However Los Angeles also has an influential contemporary art scene, characterised by its experimental and provocative nature. Local artists such as Ed Ruscha, John Baldessari, and James Turrell revel in the light, space and intellectual freedom of California. Blue chip galleries like Blum & Poe, and Regen Projects were founded in the gritty and colorful backwaters of the city, while major institutions such as LACMA and MOCA continue to host ground-breaking exhibitions.
