Koyo Kouoh was announced last year as the curator for the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. Kouoh is the first African woman to lead the lauded event since its inception in 1895. She described her intent to compose an exhibition that 'will carry meaning for the world we currently live in—and most importantly, for the world we want to make.'
