In a special presentation at ARCOmadrid 2020 Hauser & Wirth will be presenting the work of Spanish modern master Eduardo Chillida (1924-2002). From the monumental to the intimate, the featured works include the substantial and monolithic granite sculpture Lo Profundo es el Aire XVIII (How Profound is the Air XVIII)' alongside the artist's etchings and screenprints. One of the key figures of Basque modernism, Eduardo Chillida reinterpreted the modernist dialectic of solid versus void and interior versus exterior throughout his illustrious career, radically transforming the field of sculpture. A focus on geometric forms, a search for volume and depth, and an exploration of the material and the void are explored within each of the works on show.
